Happy Independence day to all Indians; oops my mistake .. Happy independence day to all Gujaratis, Maharashtrian, Scheduled caste, OBCs, Brahmins, Bengalis, Biharis, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, etc etc.
We, in India, are more attached to religion rather than to humanity or country. When someone asks you - Who are you? You won't forget to say - I'm a Gujju or a Maharashtrian or a Muslim or a Bengali and so on.
We say we are living in India, but people are found fighting to get their own state. Our government is also very smart. Britishers believed in 'Divide and keep ruling', while our government believes in 'Rule and keep dividing' because people here believe in staying close to people of their own religion, caste, sub-caste, sub-sub-caste, sub-sub-sub-caste and ultimately himself. A Hindu won't talk with a Christian as frankly as to another Hindu. He'll be just a casual person to his Christian friend. Now, he'll tell his Hindu friend all the negative points about his Christian friend - That christian guy, he's is so lazy, always eats non-veg food, a hard-core alcoholic, etc etc. Even people within the same religion curse people of a different caste, sub-caste than his'. Same applies to all religions.
We tend to share messages appreciating our own caste, indirectly conveying a message to other castes that we are best and rules in our caste are better than those in your caste. We fail to understand that every religion teaches its followers to be a good human being. All types of people exist in all castes - Pessimistic, Optimistic, Alcoholics, Brave, Coward, Dumb, Smart, Good looking, Ugly, Egoistic, Confident, etc etc.
Stop dividing people based on their religions, caste, etc. What matters is attitude and intentions of a person!!
